Still here .. busy with kids!

Mr Monkey is now 16 lbs just a week shy of his 3 month marker. He's in the 90th percentile for height and weight. That's my guy! He loves to be stood up, hates being faced in when held, likes standing in his exer-saucer already and is grasping and holding and chewing on his toys. He's remarkably alert for a little baby - at least compared to his big sister at this age. He's also too big around the middle for all of his 3-6 month pants and NONE Of his onesies fit. I had to go and buy a bunch of 6-12 month stuff. I'm gob-smacked but happy with his progress.

Our girlie is also doing well. She's made a friend with the little girl across the road and they play together almost daily. It's a joy to hear the two of them talking, running about and wreaking havoc. She's now sleeping on her own and falling asleep by herself with nearly no night wakings. Potty training is coming along slowly but we'll get there. I'm sure of it.

I ... am tired. I spend a lot of time running after kids, trying to keep up with the kitchen and wondering what to put on the table for dinner. I'm trying to be more of a spend-thrift than I'm used to and some weeks are worse than others in that regard.

Preschool planning is going well and I'm anticipating a very good year this year. Yah! It's gonna have to be given that I'm in charge of the whole works. I don't know how I get myself into these things but it seems to be a family trait.

He's a growing concern. Heh.

8 week dr's appt results:

13 lbs - 90th percentile for weight
24 inches - 90th percentil for height

He's already smiling, holding toys and batting toys. He can hold his head up reliably, prefers to be faced out when held and keeps trying to stand when he's on a lap. He's mellower than his sister was at this age. Already sleeps through the night - from about 10pm to 5am just about every night. Ya-hoo! Now if only his sister would start doing that!

Been busy!

Let's see ...

Little Bear is:

- falling asleep on her own every night now (with bribes)
- went poopy on the big toilet for the firs time (with loads of coersion)
- played with a friend for the first time. It was so cute!
- is full on three. Holy the screaming, negotiating, arguing, .. wow. I'm scared of 4.
- slides down the 'big' slide at the park now. She used to be scared of it

Mr. Man is:
- over 12 lbs. At nearly 2 months old
- has outgrown all his 0-3mos clothes
- can already hold his head up reliably
- eats VORACIOUSLY. All. The. Time.
- likes to 'stand' on peoples' knees
- is a wonderfully outgoing little guy. Already.

Kid's gaining well...

At today's midwife visit, he weighed in at 9lbs 2oz. He didn't drop any weight after the birth, either. He eats almost constantly. When he's not on the boob, he's pooping or spitting up or sleeping. What a kid he is!

The little guy is here!

Mr Peanut was born this morning at 3:28am after a short but very intense labor. He weighed in at 8 lbs even and his big sister already adores him. Mom and Babe are home again already and very happy to be here. Picked up barbecue on the way home and pigged out (literally!) as a celebration. Lordy was it ever good!

Relic was freaking awesome and so was L, my midwife. Both of them gave me exactly what I needed at just the right moments, really keeping things under control when I couldn't.

Did I mention I'm itchy?

Tonight is, I think, the worst it's been yet. It's getting close to 4am and I'm so itchy I'm crying with it. I am covered in bleeding scabs (TMI? Too bad!) from the scratching. Buh. I woke myself up scratching over an hour ago. Sigh. Get this kid out. Now.

Had a great and very productive meeting with the 2nd midwife in the practice, Heather, today. She's awesome. I think I like her almost more than Lorna if that's possible. We had a great chat about my last labor, what went wrong, what I wanted to do differently this time, etc. It was a very reassuring experience. I'm honestly amazed how differently it's all going this time around. Feeling very positive about all of it.

After the appt, Pat and I stopped at the La Vie en Rose outlet store and I picked up 3 pairs of pajamas and a very pretty night shirt for under $40 CDN. Woot. The pjs will be used for nursing as they all have button up shirts. The pretty nightie is for labor. Well and for now. I'm wearing it right this minute and it's very comfy. Plus it was a ridiculously good deal. Outlet stores are FUN.

50+ Cdn passport apps lost in last few months

Click the link in title to get to the CBC.ca article

All I can say is wow. It's scary how you're supposed to mail your personal documents into the CIC office to get your passport and to do that you have to send originals as copies just won't do. Yet the service you must use is Canada Post and while they say they take responsibility for everything in the mail stream, I wonder just who "they" are given the fact that individual unionized workers at CP have no responsibility clauses actually written right into their collective agreements.

Here I am, a person needing a passport. Yet I'm not willing to risk my personal documents and information to the mail system because of how completely unreliable it is. So how do I get my passport? It's a quandry, ain't it?

Is anybody out there?

Seriously. I'm beginning to think of this as more of a journal than a blog. I doubt anyone's reading. Which is, I think, okay with me. But I was just wondering if there actually are any readers out there. Heh.

The Munchkin loves her Nana and .. I'm SO F'ing Itchy!

She had another great sleep over at Nana's this weekend. Which is good. She's going to be fine there when it's time to get this baby out. Out, out, out. Out, out, out. Are you getting the hint, Little Guy?!

Found the name for the damnable itchy rash: Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy. How's that for a mouthful? Interestingly enough, 70% of women who get this rash deliver boys. Even stranger, a lot of the time when the welts and vesicles are scraped and tested, fetal DNA is found. So I guess you could say it's cooties. Boy cooties. Weird, eh?

I appear to have a rather severe case of it. All over my back, sides, underarms, backs of my arms, forearms, shins and belly. It's SOOOOOOOO itchy. I can't even begin to tell you how badly it itches. Not just itches. It feels like there are things crawling on me. CRAWLING. Ugh.

On the bright side, it should go away within a week or two of birth. I'm really hanging onto that.

Better day today. Yay!

Yesterday was my SIL's 40th birthday. I was having the WORST BH contrax all through her party. Like, all around, even into my back. Plus I was nauseous and hot and all kinds of stuff. I lay down afterwards and it went away. Hasn't come back yet, either. Which is good. Ready as I am, 3 weeks early is a bit much.

Oh the heartburn

I would seriously sell my soul to the Devil just to stop this constant heartburn.
